Senior Engineer

Senior Engineer required for a Preconstruction Engineer role to work for a well-established Main Contractor to be based out of their Galway City or Roscommon Town head office on a permanent, hybrid basis. The successful candidate will be an experienced Senior Engineer looking to make the transition from site into a head office preconstruction role, bringing strong technical and construction delivery experience to the front end of the project lifecycle. Role:

• Lead constructability and buildability reviews of design information at preconstruction stage
• Develop detailed construction programmes and sequencing strategies in collaboration with project and site teams
• Drive value engineering exercises and identify cost and programme efficiencies during design development
• Prepare and review method statements, construction logistics plans and phasing strategies
• Coordinate design team inputs — identifying gaps, conflicts and risks before work reaches site
• Support procurement strategy, package scoping and early subcontractor engagement
• Liaise directly with clients, architects, engineers and consultants throughout the preconstruction phase
• Prepare and maintain risk registers and contribute to project risk management planning
• Assist with the handover of projects from preconstruction to site delivery teams
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Purcell Construction’s preconstruction processes and systems

Requirements:

• Level 8 degree in Civil, Structural or Construction Engineering
• Minimum 7 years’ post-graduate experience in a Senior or Project Engineer capacity
• Strong site background with experience across medium to large-scale construction projects
• Excellent technical ability — confident reading, interrogating and critiquing design drawings and specifications
• Proficiency in programming tools such as MS Project or Primavera
• Working knowledge of standard Irish contract forms (RIAI, FIDIC or NEC)
• Chartered or working towards chartership with Engineers Ireland or equivalent
• Strong communication and coordination skills with experience engaging design teams and clients
• Irish market experience preferred
