Sustainability Advisor – Construction / Civil Engineering

A leading civil engineering and construction contractor is currently seeking a Sustainability Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will be based in the company’s head office in Omagh, with occasional site visits as required. The successful candidate will report directly to the Health & Safety Manager and will play a key role in driving sustainability performance across a range of construction and civil engineering projects.

Role:
• Support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies across construction and civil engineering projects
• Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to integrate environmental and sustainability objectives into company systems and site operations
• Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics, including carbon usage, waste management, and resource efficiency
• Conduct site visits to assess environmental compliance and promote best practice sustainability initiatives
• Assist in the preparation of environmental documentation, reports, and compliance submissions
• Promote awareness of sustainability practices across site teams and office-based staff
• Support the implementation of environmental management systems and ISO standards where applicable
• Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to encourage sustainable practices
• Identify opportunities for improvement in energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental impact
• Stay up to date with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and industry best practice
• Assist in audits and inspections relating to environmental and sustainability performance

Requirements:
• Degree or qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Construction Management, or related discipline
• 2+ years’ experience in a sustainability, environmental, or construction-related role preferred
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability practices within the construction industry
• Experience working within construction or civil engineering projects is advantageous
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage site and office teams
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting systems
• Full driving licence required for occasional site visits
• Eligible to work in the UK

Salary and Benefits:
• Salary circa €45,000–€55,000 / £38,000–£47,000 depending on experience
