Site Engineer – Rail Infrastructure Project
A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking a Site Engineer to join a major rail infrastructure project spanning the Leitrim to Longford corridor. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a nationally significant transport project within a well-established contractor delivering complex civil engineering and rail-related works.
The successful candidate will support site delivery across multiple locations, contributing to the construction, upgrading, and enabling works associated with rail infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day site operations across rail infrastructure works between Leitrim and Longford
- Carry out setting out duties using GPS, total station, and surveying equipment
- Assist in the delivery of earthworks, drainage, trackside civils, and associated infrastructure
- Maintain accurate site records, as-built drawings, and daily progress reports
- Liaise with site management, rail contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Ensure works are delivered in line with specifications, drawings, and programme requirements
- Monitor site quality and assist with QA/QC documentation
- Support health & safety compliance across all site activities, including permit systems and RAMS
- Assist in resolving technical issues and coordinating works across multiple work fronts
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in a Site Engineer role
- Previous experience in rail, civil infrastructure, or heavy civils projects is highly desirable
- Irish or UK construction experience is essential
- Strong setting out and surveying skills (GPS and total station experience required)
- Good understanding of site engineering and construction methodologies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work across multiple active sites and travel within the project corridor
- Full driving licence required
