Senior Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer with 6-8 years of experience required to join a leading international engineering consultancy in their Dublin office. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the design and delivery of bridge and civil infrastructure projects across Ireland and internationally, spanning transportation, public infrastructure and major capital works programmes. Role:
- Lead and contribute to the design of new and existing bridge and civil structures across a range of materials, forms and structural systems including superstructure, substructure, foundations and articulation elements.
- Engage in early project stages including scope definition, survey interpretation, optioneering and scheme development.
- Manage and undertake preliminary and detailed design work, including structural analytical modelling, finite element analysis and engineering calculations.
- Review and check design drawings for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Produce and oversee the preparation of technical reports, specifications and contract documentation.
- Support project delivery in line with agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
- Carry out independent design checking and provide technical support during construction stages.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients including local and national authorities, consultants and design-and-build contractors.
- Support senior team members in the preparation of bids and tenders.
- Mentor and supervise bridge design engineers within the team.
Requirements:
- Honours degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Level 8 NFQ or equivalent).
- Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE or equivalent professional body.
- A minimum of 6–8 years’ post-qualification experience in detailed bridge design within a consultancy environment.
- Proven track record in the detailed design and delivery of bridge structures.
- Experience managing and coordinating teams on bridge design projects.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out and manage structural analytical modelling including construction stage and finite element analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of structural analysis software including finite element analysis tools.
- Excellent technical knowledge of bridge design principles and structural detailing.
- Strong communication skills with experience of client-facing and written engagement.
- Fluent or highly proficient in spoken and written English.
