Building Services Design Engineer (Mechanical)
Location: Limerick, Ireland
Salary: €70K–€85K (DOE)
Role:
We are partnering with a well-established Building Services Consultancy in Limerick who are seeking an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer. This is a key role where you will take ownership of major projects across healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading project delivery, engaging directly with clients and design teams, and supporting the development of junior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Take a leading role in the mechanical design and specification of building services systems.
- Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors in a front-facing role.
- Oversee projects through all phases, from feasibility and design to site inspections and handover.
- Mentor, guide, and support junior engineers within the team.
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with Irish building regulations, BCAR, and applicable international standards (BS/IS/EN).
- Produce high-quality reports, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Monitor on-site installations, commissioning, and contractor activities.
- Drive the adoption of sustainable, efficient, and innovative engineering solutions.
Requirements:
- Degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering.
- Strong track record in mechanical building services design; knowledge of electrical systems an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects in healthcare, education, commercial, or industrial sectors.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organisational abilities.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, with AutoCAD/Revit proficiency considered a plus.
- Full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
- Please note: a hybrid working option is not available for this role.
