A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing geotechnical team in Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to work on some of Ireland’s most technically challenging infrastructure, transportation and environmental projects while developing their expertise within a highly respected Irish consultancy offering excellent mentoring and career progression.
Projects:
- National road, motorway and railway infrastructure
- Bridge, retaining wall and foundation design
- Flood defence and climate resilience schemes
- Ground improvement and soft ground engineering projects
- Rock and soil slope stabilisation works
- Marine, coastal and environmental infrastructure projects
Role:
- Undertake geotechnical assessments and identify ground-related risks during project planning
- Design shallow and deep foundations for buildings, bridges and major infrastructure projects
- Deliver geotechnical design solutions for earthworks, retaining structures and ground improvement schemes
- Specify, procure and supervise ground investigations and site inspections
- Analyse ground conditions and interpret geotechnical investigation data
- Provide specialist geotechnical input to multidisciplinary design teams
- Assist with earthworks, pavement foundation and material reuse assessments
- Prepare technical reports and geotechnical design calculations in accordance with Eurocodes and relevant standards
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
- 4+ years experience delivering geotechnical design within a consultancy environment
- Knowledge of ground investigations, foundation design and earthworks
- Experience with retaining walls, piles or ground improvement techniques
- Strong report writing and technical communication skills
- Experience working to Eurocodes and relevant Irish or UK design standards
- Proficiency with MS Office and CAD/BIM software
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation
- Experience on roads, rail, flood defence or major infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of soft ground, peat or soil improvement techniques
- Experience with pavement design, quarry or borrow pit assessments
- Full Irish driving licence
