Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Principal Geotechnical Engineer with 10+ years of experience required to join a leading UK Engineering consultancy in their Dublin office. You will lead and deliver complex geotechnical design assignments across infrastructure, transportation, energy, and industrial projects in Ireland and internationally. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to both technical delivery and project leadership.
The successful Principal Geotechnical Engineer will help grow the Dublin team and deliver high-profile infrastructure projects in Ireland and the UK.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver geotechnical engineering assignments from concept through to detailed design across national and international projects
- Design and assess deep foundations (driven, bored, and CFA piles), retaining structures, deep excavations, basements, slopes, earthworks, and ground improvement works
- Prepare and oversee ground investigation scopes, tender documentation, supervision, and interpretation of site investigation data
- Review and check internal and third-party designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, including Eurocodes, API, AASHTO, LRFD, NGI, and ICP methodologies
Requirements
- Chartered Civil Engineer (or equivalent) with a postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline
- Level 8 or higher qualification in Geotechnical Engineering
- 10+ years of consultancy experience, achieving the title of Principal Geotechnical Engineer
- Extensive experience in geotechnical engineering within infrastructure, transportation, or energy sectors
- Proven experience in complex foundation and ground engineering design
- Ability to operate strategically and operationally in a fast-paced project environment
- Excellent teamwork and leadership capabilities within multidisciplinary and matrix organisations
- Proficient in geotechnical software, including PLAXIS, ZSoil, WALLAP, Repute, GROUP, LPILE, APile, Rocscience Slide2, gINT (or equivalent)
