Project Quantity Surveyor

A qualified Project Quantity Surveyor with preferably 3 years post graduate experience is required to join a busy multidisciplinary practice in Galway. With a strong reputation and diverse projects portfolio, the Quantity Surveyor will join the QS team and assist in delivering a range of civils and building projects including mixed-use, commercial, residential, industrial and educational, from initial concept design stage estimate to final account settlement.

The ideal Quantity Surveyor will have a consultancy background and demonstrate the ability to optimise project costs, implement value engineering and ensure value for money, while still achieving the required high standards and quality.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Hold a Degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar
  • Have at least 3 years + post-graduation experience preferably within a consultancy practice
  • Be proficient in Excel, Cubit and Buildsoft
  • Strong attention to detail along with good presentation and writing skills
  • A thorough construction knowledge and experience in Building and Civil works projects
  • A good understanding and experience of Contracts and Procurement methods
  • Must hold eligibility to work in Ireland

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of cost estimates throughout the various stages of the design and pre tender
  • Preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
  • Advise on procurement strategies
  • Implement Value Engineering opportunities
  • Perform risk and value management and cost control
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Contract administration
  • Preparation and analysing tender costings
  • Assist in providing advice on contractual claims
  • Manage the change order process
  • Value and approve completed work and certifying payments to consultants and contractors
  • Understand the implications of H&S regulations
  • Manage final account for projects
