Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer – Data Centre Projects (Ireland / EMEA)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services for large-scale data centre developments across Ireland and the EMEA region. This role involves managing the full project lifecycle from concept to client handover, ensuring technical excellence and strong client relationships throughout.
Key Projects
As part of this Data Centre team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical engineering projects across Ireland and the wider EMEA region, including:
- Tier III & IV Hyperscale Data Centres for global technology clients (50MW+ facilities).
- Enterprise Data Centre retrofits and expansions in Dublin, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam.
- Sustainable design initiatives integrating heat recovery, adiabatic cooling, and low-carbon technologies.
- Modular and prefabricated plant design projects supporting rapid deployment programmes.
- Confidential co-location data centre projects for major financial and cloud service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical design delivery for complex data centre projects.
- Oversee project teams to ensure deliverables meet technical and quality standards.
- Manage client relationships and represent the company in design and coordination meetings.
- Balance multiple concurrent projects and allocate resources effectively.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Ensure quality assurance across all project stages and documentation.
- Contribute to project planning, reporting, and progress updates to senior management.
- Maintain awareness of contract scope and commercial control.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical building services design.
- Degree-qualified and preferably chartered (or working towards chartership).
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, building controls, plumbing, and drainage systems.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Proven track record of managing teams and delivering complex engineering projects.
- Confident representing the company in client and stakeholder meetings.
- Based in Ireland with hybrid remote flexibility; attendance at the Dublin office as required.
