Senior Design Manager – (Dublin)
A Senior Design Manager is required by a leading civil and utilities contractor to support the delivery of the BusConnects programme across Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design professional to join a high-profile infrastructure project focused on transforming public transport, active travel routes, and key urban corridors throughout the city.
The successful Senior Design Manager will play a central role in coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, managing consultants, ensuring technical compliance, and supporting the delivery of complex civils and transport design packages. This role is ideally suited to a design specialist with strong experience in highways, utilities, or large-scale urban infrastructure projects.
Duties:
• Lead and coordinate the design development for multiple BusConnects work packages.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, traffic, and utilities designers.
• Oversee design programmes, deliverables, reviews, and technical approvals.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities, and project stakeholders to address design queries.
• Ensure compliance with BusConnects standards, TII requirements, statutory approvals, and planning conditions.
• Identify and manage design risks, constraints, and opportunities for value engineering.
• Coordinate design interfaces with utilities diversions, traffic management, bus priority measures, and active travel infrastructure.
• Manage design submissions, document control, and technical query logs.
• Support constructability reviews and collaborate closely with construction teams.
• Prepare design progress reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
Requirements:
• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years’ experience in design management for major civil, transport, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of TII standards, Irish roads/transport design guidance, and planning processes.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
• Proven track record delivering complex design packages on urban or utilities-heavy projects.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design management platforms.
• Experience on public transport or urban mobility projects is a distinct advantage.
Salary & Benefits:
• €80,000 – €90,000, depending on experience.
