Quantity Surveyor – Civils Projects (Dublin)

A Quantity Surveyor is required by a civils and groundworks engineering company for civils projects located in Balbriggan and Lucan (North Dublin). The role involves commercial management of groundworks and infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate cost control, strong subcontractor management, and effective reporting. This position is ideal for a motivated QS who thrives in a fast-paced site environment and enjoys working closely with project teams to deliver high-quality civil-engineering works.

Roles

  • Manage all commercial and contractual elements of civils projects from initial tender through to final account.
    • Prepare, submit, and negotiate monthly valuations, variations, and claims.
    • Measure and price works, BOQs, and subcontract packages.
    • Monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts, and highlight any risks or opportunities.
    • Conduct site visits to assess progress, verify completed works, and liaise with site teams.
    • Procure subcontractors, review quotations, and draft subcontract agreements.
    • Ensure accurate record-keeping including site measurements, correspondence, and cost reports.
    • Assist in tender preparation, cost estimates, and take-offs for upcoming projects.
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure commercial efficiency.
    • Support continuous improvement in commercial processes and project-delivery practices.

Requirements

  • 4–6+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Ireland, ideally with a civils or groundworks contractor.
    • Strong understanding of civil-engineering works such as drainage, utilities, concrete works, and site development.
    • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
    • Excellent knowledge of pricing, contract administration, and the Public Works Contract (PW-C) is an advantage.
    • Strong IT skills including Excel and industry-standard QS software.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team.
    • Full clean driving license.
    • Right to work in the Republic of Ireland.
