Our client is a well-established utilities and civil engineering contractor with a strong presence in the Irish market. Specialising in the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects, the company works across a variety of sectors, including water, gas, telecoms, and transportation. With a commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability, the company is seeking a Project Manager with utilities and civils experience to join their growing team in Cork.
Position Overview:
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the successful delivery of utilities and civil engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing project teams, liaising with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, and ensuring all aspects of the project are executed in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the delivery of utilities and civil engineering projects, from inception to completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and procurement, ensuring effective use of materials, labor, and equipment.
- Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders, providing regular project updates and ensuring that expectations are managed effectively.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including progress reports, risk assessments, and financial forecasts.
- Manage project risks and issues, proactively identifying solutions and mitigating potential delays or complications.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, driving efficiency and promoting best practices.
Key Requirements:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing utilities and civils projects, ideally with exposure to water, gas, telecoms, or transportation infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and liaising with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance practices in the utilities and civil engineering sectors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with both internal teams and external clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Full driving license and the ability to travel to project sites as required.
