My client, one of Ireland’s leading Civil & Marine Engineering contractors are now searching for a Purchasing Coordinator/Administrator for a full-time permanent position, based in Cork.
As a Purchasing Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the procurement process, responsible for assisting in the sourcing and purchasing of materials, goods, and services for the company. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of skill and experience in Microsoft excel, verbal written communications and document management
Role:
- Assist in the sourcing and purchase of construction materials, tools, and services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Taking purchase requisitions and generating purchase orders within a prescribed purchasing system.
- Send out enquiries to the supply chain for best prices for all orders.
- Assist the team in building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing and terms, and manage contracts.
- Assist in the tracking procurement costs, monitor expenses, and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate timely material deliveries and manage on-site inventory to avoid delays.
- Assist the purchase team to liaise closely with site teams and project managers to coordinate large volumes of purchase orders and to ensure material needs align with project schedules.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with regulations and sustainability goals.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in construction administration and / or procurement or a related field preferred.
- Good experience in handling large volumes of orders or similar tasks with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within purchasing team and across departments and levels of the organisation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to gain knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards in the procurement field.

- Salary €40k – €50k DOE
