A well-established engineering consultancy with a strong presence in the Irish market is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team in Roscommon. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a range of projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, commercial, and public infrastructure, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and collaboration.
Role Overview
This position is ideal for a technically capable and self-motivated engineer with experience in mechanical building services design. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll support the delivery of detailed, coordinated design solutions while continuing to grow your technical expertise and project ownership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical systems designs (e.g. HVAC, hot & cold water, heating, ventilation) from concept to detailed stage.
- Contribute to energy-efficient and environmentally responsible designs in line with current standards and performance goals.
- Coordinate with electrical, public health, structural, and architectural disciplines to ensure integrated building services solutions.
- Support site inspections, technical assessments, and project meetings as part of the design and delivery process.
- Produce high-quality design documentation including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Maintain compliance with quality control procedures, building regulations, and client requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- 3 years of experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design tools such as Hevacomp or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and relevant energy and environmental standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Actively pursuing or planning to pursue chartership with Engineers Ireland or a similar body.
