Exciting opportunity for a skilled Managing Quantity Surveyor at a reputable Building Main Contractor located in Meath. We are seeking a candidate with extensive expertise in contract management, specifically in public works, RIAI, JCT, and NEC contracts. This position offers a clear career progression path to a potential role as Commercial Director, which may be offered as the job title for highly experienced applicants.
Responsibilities:
- Contractual Proficiency: Demonstrate extensive expertise in diverse contractual frameworks (public works, RIAI, JCT, NEC, etc.).
- Cost Oversight: Supervise cost control process, including forecasting, budget preparation, and vigilant expense monitoring. • Variation Handling: Evaluate, oversee, and administer variations/change orders, ensuring compliance and effective communication.
Procurement Collaboration: Collaborate with procurement, estimation, and surveying teams for subcontractor procurement activities.
- Contract Administration: Assume responsibility for contract administration, compliance, notices, and milestones. • Commercial Management: Monitor project financial performance, provide recommendations for profitability and risk mitigation.
- Business Growth: Utilize business development skills to identify new opportunities, cultivate client relationships, and expand the project portfolio.
- Team Leadership: Lead and guide quantity surveyors and commercial staff for quality outcomes and professional growth.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Industry Best Practices: Stay updated on best practices, market trends, and legal requirements for operational efficiency and risk management.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. Professional accreditation (MRICS) highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years’ commercial management experience in Irish construction industry, specializing in public works, RIAI, JCT, NEC contracts. Proven track record in contract management, cost control, and business development.
- Contractual Expertise: Extensive knowledge of public works, RIAI, JCT, NEC contracts, and relevant frameworks.
- Business Development: Drive business growth, build client relationships, generate leads, expand project portfolio.
- Financial Acumen: Strong financial awareness, analyze data, drive profitability, assess project viability. • Leadership Skills: Inspire and motivate teams to achieve project goals.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, effective stakeholder engagement.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive approach, risk mitigation, dispute resolution, seize business opportunities.
