Lead Mechanical Engineer (Milan)
We are currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work for a Tier 1 M&E Contractor on a large Date Centre Project in Milan, Italy. They will be responsible for planning, managing and coordinating all mechanical engineering and commissioning activities on assigned projects.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical engineering, design management, and commissioning activities
- Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and company engineering procedures
- Coordinate procurement support including technical reviews, RFQs, and subcontract scopes
- Oversee system design reviews, equipment selection, technical submittals, and BIM coordination
- Manage testing, commissioning, FATs, SATs, and system walkdowns
- Track system completion, snags, documentation, and O&M deliverables
- Identify and support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
- Provide technical input to project planning, risk management, and commercial discussions
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and support continuous professional development
Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- 10+ years’ relevant experience, including 3+ years in a lead or managerial role
- Experience in data centre and/or pharmaceutical projects preferred
- Strong technical leadership and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication, organisation, and reporting skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project priorities
- Proactive mindset with a focus on quality, safety, and delivery
