Junior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Dublin (South County)
Salary: €40,000 – €45,000 (Depending on Experience)
Work Split: ~50% Design Office / ~50% Site‑Based
Type: Permanent, Full‑time
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing engineering and project delivery team in Dublin. This role is ideally suited to a motivated early‑career engineer with hands‑on experience across district heating, energy infrastructure, pharmaceutical facilities, and complex construction projects.
You will work alongside senior engineers and project managers, supporting the design, coordination, and delivery of large‑scale mechanical and MEP projects, with strong exposure to site activities, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the mechanical design, coordination, and delivery of projects across energy, industrial, and commercial sectors.
- Produce and review mechanical drawings, layouts, and models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, SolidWorks, and related tools.
- Assist with district heating, utility diversion, HVAC, and mechanical systems design and analysis.
- Carry out stress, thermal, and performance analysis using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, OpenFOAM, and MATLAB.
- Support site investigations, utility mapping, and identification of constraints and clashes.
- Coordinate with MEP contractors during construction, installation, certification, snagging, and handover.
- Assist with project management activities, including programme tracking, contractor liaison, quality control, and reporting using Procore and MS Office.
- Contribute to design risk assessments, technical documentation, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree (or working towards a Master’s) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 1–2 years’ experience in mechanical engineering, MEP, energy infrastructure, or construction environments.
- Exposure to district heating, utilities, pharmaceutical or industrial facilities projects is highly desirable.
- Practical site experience including coordination with contractors, snagging, and system certification.
- Strong technical communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Member (or graduate member) of Engineers Ireland, with intent to pursue Chartership.
Technical Skills
- CAD & Modelling: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, SolidWorks, Fusion 360
- Analysis & Simulation: ANSYS, Abaqus (FEA), OpenFOAM (CFD), MATLAB, Minitab
- Project Tools: Procore, Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with HVAC, district heating, heat exchangers, CHP, cleanroom systems, and BMS is an advantage
