General Foreman
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Foreman with a leading Main Building Contractor, to work on a commercial project in Laois which is just starting. Our client, well-regarded for its long-term commitments in the region, stands out as an employer of choice. The ideal General Foreman will bring extensive experience in medium to large-scale building projects and be an all-rounder.
Responsibilities:
- Regularly attends and, when necessary, chairs daily coordination/whiteboard meetings and weekly progress meetings with subcontractors.
- Demonstrates an understanding of subcontractors’ RAMS & ITP’s to uphold quality standards, monitoring safety, quality, and progress in compliance with current environmental and construction standards.
- Ensures that the works align with the designer’s drawings, sketches, and relevant specifications.
- Inspects and approves subcontractors’ work when it meets acceptable standards.
- Maintains a daily diary to record progress, workforce numbers, safety issues/near misses, weather conditions, labour, plant and material shortfalls, and any challenges impacting the day’s progress.
- Possesses a clear understanding of project-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through on-the-job training.
- Manages a team of supervisors and operatives.
- Communicates essential information, particularly regarding COSHH considerations, to other trades.
- Supports site management with site inductions.
- Issues site permits, such as excavation permits, hot works permits, roof permits, etc.
- Assists in coordinating site logistics.
- Informs gate personnel and security about deliveries.
- Assists in checking information provided by the design team and subcontractors, contributing to the raising of Request for Information (RFI) when necessary.
- Exhibits a solid understanding of project logistics and the program to completion.
- Possesses a comprehensive working knowledge of the project specification.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a General Foreman on building projects for main building contractors in Ireland or the UK.
- A minimum of 4 years’ supervisory experience on building projects.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Commercially aware.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage all trades on-site.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
Remuneration:
- Salary approximately €70K-€80K.
