Senior Environmental Scientist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Scientist to join a well-established Environmental Team based in Galway or Dublin. This consultancy is a leader in the Planning and Environmental sector in Ireland, with services ranging from planning, environmental, ecology, and related disciplines. They have a proven track record of delivering challenging and complex projects, adding real value through their multi-disciplinary expertise.
As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will play a key role in managing Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) projects across sectors such as wind energy, renewables, waste-to-energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure. We are looking for a professional with a broad range of experience on large-scale projects in these sectors.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day operations of projects within the Environmental Team, including fee agreements, invoicing, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Oversee, guide, and manage junior team members and sub-consultants to deliver project requirements effectively.
- Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring project profitability and providing regular updates to senior management and clients.
- Report directly to senior management on project performance.
- Balance and prioritise multiple projects while managing client expectations, staff resources, and project deadlines.
- Lead and implement business development initiatives within the team.
- Secure new projects by preparing and overseeing fee proposals, identifying market opportunities, and maintaining a consistent workflow.
Requirements:
- A third-level qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of the Irish planning system.
- Experience working on large-scale EIAR, planning, and construction stage projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering, construction management, ecology, hydrology/hydrogeology, noise, air, traffic, geotechnical disciplines, and their interrelationships within EIAR projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary range: €50,000 – €65,000, depending on experience.
