Energy Engineer – Building Services
Location: Limerick City, Ireland
Salary: €40K–€50K
Role:
A long-established Building Services Design Consultancy is seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to join their team in Limerick City. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering sustainable, energy-efficient solutions while developing their career in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake energy modelling using IES VE (ModelIT, ApacheSim, CIBSE Loads, MacroFlo, Radiance IES)
- • Calculate heating/cooling loads, energy consumption, and potential savings
- • Conduct daylight analysis, overheating analysis, Part L compliance & BER assessments
- • Support clients in implementing energy objectives and sustainability targets
- • Identify energy-saving opportunities and prepare detailed energy audits and reports
- • Carry out on-site energy surveys and provide actionable recommendations
- • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide updates to senior management
- • Assist with integration of renewable technologies and ISO 50001 compliance
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 7 Degree in Energy Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services etc.)
- 2+ years’ experience in Building Services / Sustainable Energy industry
- Proficiency in IES VE (loads, energy, daylight, compliance modelling)
- Knowledge of ASHRAE/CIBSE guides and Irish Building Regulations (TGD Part L)
- Familiarity with ISO 50001, renewable technologies, BREEAM, LEED, and DoE TGD-033 guidance (advantageous)
- BER Assessor qualification (distinct advantage)
- Experience with AutoCAD & Revit desirable
- Excellent report writing, communication, and organisational skills
