Design Manager (Relocate to Canada)

Exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to relocate to Canada and join the Building Division of one of Canada’s Largest Main Contractors (Circa $3 Billion turnover annually) to work across a mixed portfolio of High-Rise, Commercial, Healthcare, Airport, Defense and Educational projects.

Duties:

  • Manage the design process from start to finish, including coordinating activities and understanding regulatory requirements.
  • Review contractual obligations and project budgets, ensuring compliance.
  • Lead consultant teams and retain consultants for the project.
  • Develop and manage QA processes to ensure design completeness and compliance.
  • Create and manage detailed design schedules aligned with project timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, consultants, and authorities.
  • Develop technical expertise within the team and comply with regulations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure adherence to design policies and procedures.
  • Monitor design efforts for compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Interface with other project teams to coordinate design efforts.
  • Audit design documents for completeness and quality.
  • Notify stakeholders of any contract variances and provide support to project teams.
  • Negotiate with clients and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Educate stakeholders on technical aspects of the design process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and consultants.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Construction, Engineering or Architecture.
  • 10 Years+ in Construction and at least 3 years in Design Management for a Main Contractor in Ireland/UK.
  • Solid understanding of construction industry practices.
  • IT Skills: MS Office, BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit, ACONEX and Revizto.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Available to relocate permanently to Canada within 6-9 months.

 

Benefits:

  • Salary $125,000 to $155,000 CAD (Circa €85k to €105k) + Vehicle allowance
