Lead Roads Design Engineer
Location: Cork or Dublin/Galway/Louth
Roads Design Engineer with strong experience across all stages of transport projects required to join one of the world’s leading engineering consultancies with offices across Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing Highways and Transportation team, working on a wide range of projects including roads, public transport, Active Travel and public realm schemes. The successful Road Design Engineer will take a lead role in project delivery and team coordination.
Duties:
- Act as Design Lead on multi-disciplinary transportation projects including roads, public transport, Active Travel and public realm schemes.
• Lead the design process across all project stages including feasibility, optioneering, planning, detailed design and construction.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams on Employer Design and Design & Build contracts.
• Manage and oversee the production of design outputs and technical documentation.
• Provide line management and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Review and check designs from other disciplines and manage design coordination and clashes.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.
Requirements:
- Level 8/9 Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant postgraduate experience within a consultancy environment.
• Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland (or equivalent), or close to achieving chartership.
• Proven experience delivering multi-disciplinary transportation projects in Ireland/UK.
• Strong knowledge of design standards and ability to deliver full design packages.
• Experience with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, MicroDrainage, Navisworks.
• Good understanding of roads design elements including drainage, utilities, pavements, geotechnics and road safety features.
• Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and making design decisions.
• Strong communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in construction stage activities (Employer’s Design / Design & Build).
• Full Irish / EU driving licence.
