Lead Mechanical Engineer – Portugal
We are hiring for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Mechanical Contractor in Portugal on a Pharmaceutical project. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for coordinating mechanical engineering activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring efficient execution of construction, fabrication, quality, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities
- Manage and support the Area Engineers responsible for specific construction areas.
- Supervise and support site-based Project Engineers.
- As Lead Mechanical Engineer you will coordinate mechanical works between construction teams, consultants, contractors, and other disciplines.
- Support project delivery across planning, construction, safety, quality, and commercial activities.
- Resolve engineering queries arising during construction and site installation.
- Coordinate project activities with the offsite fabrication team to ensure fabrication aligns with the construction schedule.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years in a lead role.
- Experience delivering mechanical construction projects within industries such as Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Semiconductor, or Oil & Gas.
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor is highly advantageous.
- Strong experience in the construction stage of projects, including piping fabrication, piping installation, pressure testing, and equipment installation.
- This Lead Mechanical Engineer will need excellent knowledge of piping isometrics and P&IDs.
- Proficiency in Navisworks or equivalent coordination software.
