Position: Graduate Building Services Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical)

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Graduate Building Services Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This role is suitable for graduates who have recently completed (or are about to complete) a Level 8 engineering degree, preferably from an Irish university, with a specialism in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
The successful candidate will work on the design, coordination, and delivery of building services systems across a range of commercial, residential, industrial, and public-sector projects. You will gain experience collaborating with senior engineers, contractors, architects, and clients to ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and specification of mechanical or electrical building services systems, including HVAC, power distribution, lighting, life safety, and renewable energy technologies.
- Prepare technical drawings, calculations, schedules, and documentation under supervision.
- Contribute to project coordination, BIM model reviews, and interdisciplinary design meetings.
- Support the preparation of tender packages, technical submittals, and compliance documentation.
- Carry out site inspections, surveys, and commissioning support as required.
- Maintain adherence to industry standards, building regulations, and relevant Irish legislation.
- Engage in continuous professional development and work toward Chartership (CEng/MCIBSE/MIET) where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Level 8 Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong technical understanding of core building services principles.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar (training can be provided).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant placement/internship experience, ideally within:
- a design consultancy, and/or
- a building services contracting environment.
- Familiarity with Irish and European building regulations, energy standards, and best-practice guidelines.
