Electrical Design Engineer (HV/MV)

Due to continued growth, one of my clients are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of HV/MV substation, transmission, and distribution projects. This client is a utility infrastructure consultancy and construction company, operating extensively within the utilities sector in Ireland, the UK and internationally. This is a full-time site based position based on projects in the Dublin region. There is also offices Nationwide in Cork, Limerick, Kerry, Kilkenny or Waterford if these locations suit better.

Role:

• Support the design and development of HV/MV electrical systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and associated infrastructure
• Prepare and review electrical design drawings, schematics, layouts, single line diagrams (SLDs), and technical specifications
• Carry out electrical calculations including load flow, short circuit, cable sizing, earthing, and protection coordination studies
• Develop design documentation in accordance with project scope, client requirements, and relevant standards
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams (civil, structural, protection & control, telecoms, OHL and cable engineers) to ensure integrated design delivery

 Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (NFQ Level 8)
• 3+ years’ relevant experience (preferred)
• Strong understanding of electrical power system design principles and relevant standards
• Knowledge of substation design, protection systems, and earthing design
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple design deliverables
• Full driver’s license (desirable, if required to occasionally visit a site)
