A leading construction company is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join their team on a major school construction project in Killarney, Kerry. This is a hands-on, site-focused role, ideal for an engineer with strong expertise in structural and civil engineering, capable of managing complex construction works and ensuring the successful delivery of a high-value educational facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering and technical management of the school construction project
- Oversee structural and civil elements of the project, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with design specifications
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor project progress, schedules, and budgets
- Manage site teams, subcontractors, and liaise with project managers, consultants, and clients
- Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental protocols on-site
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site staff
- Conduct regular site inspections, proactively identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, regulations, and company standards
Requirements:
- Minimum 4–5 years’ experience in civil or structural engineering, preferably with experience in educational or large-scale building projects
- Strong understanding of construction techniques, project management, and site coordination
- Ability to lead on-site teams and make informed engineering decisions independently
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Relevant degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
- Valid construction certifications (CSCS/SafePass) and knowledge of Irish building regulations
