My Tier 1 client is seeking a Procurement Officer / Buyer for a role in Westmeath. The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing materials, subcontractors and services needed for construction projects. The role aims to ensure availability of required goods/services, achieving best value in cost, quality, and delivery in line with project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate and qualify suppliers, subcontractors and vendors
- Issue RFQs / tenders for materials, plant, and services; evaluate offers and negotiate contracts
- Place purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules, track order performance and resolve delays or quality issues
- Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, engineering, design and QS to understand procurement needs well in advance
- Maintain supplier relationships and performance metrics; conduct cost and market analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant legal / health & safety / sustainability standards
- Manage procurement documentation, record-keeping, budgeting / spend tracking and reporting
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience (3+ years) in procurement within construction (or heavy industrial / large scale projects)
- Strong negotiation skills
- Good understanding of construction materials, supply chain issues, lead times etc.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g. ERP or procurement systems, MS Office particularly Excel)
- Degree or relevant qualification in supply chain / procurement / construction management / quantity surveying is a plus

- Salary: €65,000-€75,000 per annum, dependent on experience
