About the Role
I’m hiring on behalf of our client, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, to fill a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer vacancy. You will design and specify advanced mechanical systems across high-profile commercial, residential, data centre, utility, and infrastructure developments working from concept through completion under best-practice and regulatory standards.
Projects You’ll Be Working On:
- Landmark commercial headquarters projects demanding sustainable, energy-efficient mechanical system design and BREEAM/LEED compliance, akin to the Central Bank of Ireland HQ.
- Mixed-mode ventilation and bespoke façade integration, delivering high-performance heating, cooling, and ventilation systems tailored for intelligent building envelopes.
- Infrastructure and site development works, such as canal dredging or site-wide utility layouts, requiring detailed mechanical design coordination across civil, structural, and MEP engineering disciplines.
What You’ll Do
- Design and specify HVAC, drainage, water services, ventilation, and BMS solutions that meet sustainability and performance benchmarks.
- Lead pre-construction design tasks: producing tender drawings, equipment schedules, and service coordination packages.
- Oversee construction-phase duties, including submittals, RFIs, and site inspections.
- Collaborate with architects, civil/structural engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure a fully coordinated mechanical design.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering their development in mechanical design processes and standards.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in mechanical and building services design in Ireland.
- Deep technical expertise with Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE codes, IS/EN standards, and sustainability frameworks (e.g. BREEAM, LEED).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and building performance analysis tools (e.g. IES or analogous software).
- Strong analytical and design skills: competent in heat load calculations, ventilation design, pressure drop analysis, and ductwork/piping engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to manage drawing revisions and support procurement processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
- Third-level degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
What’s Offered
- €70,0000 – $80,000 + competitive bonus structure.
- Pension and life insurance (Death in Service cover).
- Flexible working model (hybrid, flexible hours).
- Sponsored education, CPD support, and professional membership fees.
- Wellness and work–life balance programmes.
