A respected and long-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is expanding its team in Cork and is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, including commercial, healthcare, educational, infrastructure, and mixed-use developments, within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver design input on electrical systems for small to medium-scale building projects, assisting senior engineers from early-stage concept through to construction and handover.
- Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, reports, and schedules in accordance with relevant Irish building codes, industry standards, and best practices.
- Work in close coordination with internal mechanical, structural, architectural, and sustainability disciplines to ensure integrated and fully coordinated design solutions.
- Attend project meetings, presenting technical information and responding to design queries in a clear and professional manner.
- Contribute to planning and resource coordination to meet project deadlines and maintain design quality.
- Adhere to internal quality management and health & safety procedures throughout all design stages.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in electrical building services design, ideally within a consultancy setting.
- Good knowledge of Irish building regulations, IS standards, and familiarity with CIBSE guidance.
- Skilled in the use of Revit and electrical design tools such as Dialux, Relux, and Amtech.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with external stakeholders.
- Actively progressing toward professional chartership with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent body.
- Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
