A Buyer is required to join Ireland’s top multi-disciplined engineering and construction company. This company offers industry leading services in civil engineering, transport infrastructure, structure steel & pipe fabrication, water and wastewater, power, natural resources and ground engineering. They also have a major projects and a property division.
Main Purpose of Role:
- Business Unit focused experienced material / Sub-contract procurement specialist.
- Works as part of a dedicated procurement team for the regional operating unit to develop the regional supply chain to suit the demand.
- Provide market competitive procurement solutions for the operating unit which demonstrate best overall value for money.
- Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of materials / Sub-contract covering: –
- Work winning supply chain selection for Bid Leader / Estimator: –
- Undertaking all Due Diligence
- Construction stage project procurement for Project Leader, including: –
- Supporting the production and driving of the procurement schedule
- Supporting the development of work package documents in conjunction with project teams
- Work package procurement
- Production of purchase orders.
- Expediting activities as required
- Support the regional supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain, carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.
- Support activities that generate and encourage an efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance.
- Support the group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region
- Ensure supplier evaluation forms and risk assessments are maintained
Duties:
Procurement:
- Providing a comprehensive procurement service for all projects in the Business Unit.
- Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the Business Unit from work winning / pre-construction stage.
- Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations
- Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.
- Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive and protect the business in its dealings with suppliers.
- Contribution to Murphy leverage at every opportunity
- Ensure decisions are not focussed upon lowest price but overall best value for money
Supply Chain Management:
- Support the development of an accredited and structured supply chain that is aligned to the regional demands and overall, Murphy strategy
- Input to the monitoring of the marketplace to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
- Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet regional project demand.
- Support the monitoring of the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position.
- Support the development of the supply chain, products and innovations that bring cost and/or buildability benefits.
Teamwork:
- Work with procurement and project teams to drive continuous improvement processes for supply chain members.
- Develop and forge closer relationships with the strategic supply chain to encourage a culture of inclusive interaction and learning and an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
- Integrate with other Business Units to help co-ordinate the procurement of the strategic supply chain.
- Establish good relationships with internal clients and project teams
- Work harmoniously as a member of the procurement team
- Attend regional supply chain events as required to promote and sell Murphy and encourage teamwork
Corporate:
- Support the future development of the Murphy procurement strategy
- Compliance with procurement process, procedures and company ethics
- Ensure the implementation of National/Regional agreements across all projects within the region
- Promote best practice in health, safety, quality, sustainability and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHESQ department
Requirements:
- Civil Engineering experience – Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction process from pre-construction stage and into construction stage
- CIPS Qualified or Graduate
- Good working knowledge of contracts
- MS package knowledge (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
- Good existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
- Good product and supplier knowledge relevant to the regional operating unit.
- Good knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices
Salary
- Salary circa €70k – €75k DOE
