Design Manager (Relocate to Canada)
Exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to relocate to Canada and join the Building Division of one of Canada’s Largest Main Contractors (Circa $3 Billion turnover annually) to work across a mixed portfolio of High-Rise, Commercial, Healthcare, Airport, Defense and Educational projects. This company will provide a generous relocation support package (Flights, Initial accommodation etc).
Duties:
- Manage the design process from start to finish, including coordinating activities and understanding regulatory requirements.
- Review contractual obligations and project budgets, ensuring compliance.
- Lead consultant teams and retain consultants for the project.
- Develop and manage QA processes to ensure design completeness and compliance.
- Create and manage detailed design schedules aligned with project timelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, consultants, and authorities.
- Develop technical expertise within the team and comply with regulations.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure adherence to design policies and procedures.
- Monitor design efforts for compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Interface with other project teams to coordinate design efforts.
- Audit design documents for completeness and quality.
- Notify stakeholders of any contract variances and provide support to project teams.
- Negotiate with clients and resolve issues as they arise.
- Educate stakeholders on technical aspects of the design process.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and consultants.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Construction, Engineering or Architecture.
- 10 Years+ in Construction and at least 3 years in Design Management for a Main Contractor in Ireland/UK.
- Solid understanding of construction industry practices.
- IT Skills: MS Office, BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit, ACONEX and Revizto.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Available to relocate permanently to Canada within 6-9 months.
Benefits:
- Salary $125,000 to $155,000 CAD (Circa €85k to €105k) + Vehicle allowance
